TESLA ANIMALS

ARTISTS ARE RECREATING THE LIVE ACT ON 14TH OF JUNE, 2009 AT THE TILOS RADIO, BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL PROBLEMS WHAT HAPPENED ON 20TH MAY (AND THE BROADCAST WAS NOT SUCCESFUL).

14th June 22-23h (Budapest time), 23-24h (Bucharest time)

Live act VII

Bucharest – Budapest, 14th of June, 22.00-23.00 (Budapest time), Catalin Draganescu (RO) / Anca Belciu (RO) / Ji-Gabo (RO) / Ahad (HU) / Villő Turcsány (HU)

The artists are working on an evocation of Nikola Tesla’s (1856-1943) visionarity. In Tesla’s opinion „Life” and „Nature” has a universal inner rhythm and (electromagnetic) resonance.

Tesla spoke fluently in (his native) Istro-Romainan, Serbo-Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, German, French, English and Latin. His thoughts where mostly of confucianistic inspiration centered around the problem of preserving and developing Humanity and Education in the first place as a naturally occuring purpose of mankind:

“When we speak of man, we have a conception of humanity as a whole, and before applying scientific methods to, the investigation of his movement we must accept this as a physical fact. But can anyone doubt to-day that all the millions of individuals and all the innumerable types and characters constitute an entity, a unit? Though free to think and act, we are held together, like the stars in the firmament, with ties inseparable. These ties cannot be seen, but we can feel them. I cut myself in the finger, and it pains me: this finger is a part of me. I see a friend hurt, and it hurts me, too: my friend and I are one. And now I see stricken down an enemy, a lump of matter which, of all the lumps of matter in the universe, I care least for, and it still grieves me. Does this not prove that each of us is only part of a whole?” (Nikola Tesla: The Problem of Increasing Human Energy /Excerpt/. = Century Illustrated Magazine, June 1900)

The thematic collected and sampled sound combines with Ji-gabo`s Synthetic real time “sculptured-sound” then with the noises of Nikola Tesla’s functioning inventions (such as an „Egely wheel – Vitality Meter”) and Ahad`s “universal resonant bent circuits” together with the live sounds of a few demonstrative high voltage devices: a miniatural “marx generator / drum machine” and a very noisy “spark gap tesla coil” donated to our project by (the zen-buddhist) Dr. Liviu Vasiliu a.k.a. “Teslina”.

The vocal artists (Anca Belciu & Dr. Catalin Draganescu) and an experimental flute performer (Villő Turcsány) are “populating” with freely improvised (non-rehearsed) “living spirit” this gigatronic and somehow scary and dangerous environment.

Their aim is to build a common resonant world/unit in two megavolt-high-energy spots. And an “audional recreation process” has to be the narrative part of the piece.

JazzaJ / EIIEKTRIIK Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 7 PM – 10:00 PM Auróra Auróra utca 11. 1084 Budapest Hungary ***scroll down for English*** Némi kihagyás után újra megnyílik előttünk a JAZZAJ sötét oldala. John Butcher on Free Improvisation – John Butcher a szabadimprovizációról (1998)

John Butcher 15 Simple Statements on Free Improvisation – with Illustrations and Contradictions* John Butcher: Asymptotic Freedom, for feedback saxophone, snare drum, guitar & e-bow. A response to the work of Gustav Metzger. Self Cancellation, Install, Glasgow. 2008. © Philip Berryhill, 2008 1. Group improvisation involves an attempt to make music that no one player could imagine. It should force the musicians beyond their own conceptions. 2. Each player should equally be able to affect the content, form and direction of the music at any moment. 3. The physicality of sound production is inescapably connected with the creation, not just the execution, of the music. 4. Free improvised music is necessarily spontaneous, but is built on a background of years of study, experiment, thought and experience. 5. There exists the possibility of trying to play a music with no history. 6. Free improvisation shows that complexity is actually very natural. 7. Contemporary music seems t
